Rail-Guided Robotic Rack Inspection Unit
A permanently-mounted robotic carriage that operates inside a standard 19-inch EIA-310 equipment rack. ArtiGuard reaches every rack-unit position with a full imaging and sensing payload — without a technician, without downtime.
What It Is
ArtiGuard mounts permanently inside a standard 19-inch EIA-310 cabinet (24U–47U). Unlike floor-patrol robots or fixed external cameras, it operates inside the cabinet itself — positioning its imaging payload at any rack-unit with millimetre-level precision. An adjustable mounting bracket accommodates cabinet depths from approximately 600 mm to 1200 mm.
Motion System
Z-Axis (Vertical)
Rides a self-locking Tr8x8 lead screw and dual guide rail, driven by a closed-loop stepper motor. The self-locking thread holds carriage position without continuous power draw.
X-Axis (Horizontal / Depth)
Extends the payload to the correct equipment depth, then retracts to a parked position outside the airflow path when idle — no permanent obstruction to rack cooling.
Autonomous Positioning
ArtiGuard queries your DCIM or IPAM for a device's stored rack-unit position and depth, calculates the exact target coordinate, and moves there automatically. Closed-loop encoder feedback confirms arrival before capture begins.
Sensor Payload
Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera
PTZ + LEDIntegrated LED lighting for close-range video capture. Inspects equipment faces, labels, and physical condition at any U-position.
LED Status Classifier
OPTICALDedicated sensor for classifying LED indicator states — power, fault, activity — on every device in the rack. Flags anomalies and maps status to your asset database.
Cable Inspection Camera
VISION + OCRChecks cable seating and routing at each U-position. Detects unseated, unlabelled, or misrouted cables and cross-references against DCIM inventory.
Airflow Velocity Sensor
ANEMOMETERRecords airflow at every position during a scan — building a full-height airflow profile of the rack, not a single fixed reading. Identifies recirculation zones and blanking panel gaps.
Temperature Sensor
THERMALCaptures a thermal reading at each U-position on every pass. Builds a per-U thermal map to identify hotspots before they trigger hardware throttling or failure.
Safety & Reliability
Obstruction Detection
Non-contact distance sensor halts motion immediately on obstruction detection — no physical contact required.
Independent E-Stop Circuit
The emergency-stop circuit is wired independently of the main computing module. A software fault can never prevent a safety stop.
Hard Motion Limits
Limit switches at both ends of each axis define hard mechanical boundaries — motion cannot exceed the physical travel range under any condition.
Self-Locking Drive
The Tr8x8 lead screw is self-locking: the carriage holds position without continuous motor power, eliminating drift and reducing heat generation.
